It all started with a book that sought to inspire women to break barriers and unlock their potential. “Unprecedented: To The Beat Of Her Own Drum” was launched in 2021 and with the great support of the community, it has raised funds to offer women an opportunity for women to do just that.
Over 2 years ago, a group of women had a dream to inspire the Malay/Muslim community on the endless potential of what women could be capable of. YWILD, in collaboration with Mendaki Club, put together Unprecedented: To The Beat Of Her Own Drum, an anthology of 20 stories by women who have pushed the status quo.
YWILD’s sophomore panel and dialogue celebrated the resilience of ordinary people who have pursued the extraordinary. Held on 28 October 2017, our panel hosted over 100 female youths from tertiary institutions and recent university graduates with Minister Grace Fu the Guest of Honour.
Realising one’s dreams starts with having a single seed of inspiration sowed. It was with this very idea in mind which kickstarted the need for a dialogue between young women that had the potential to drive the community to break barriers and nurture the next generation of leaders.
